This bo had 1/4" of foam around a plastic tube. Some other padded bos have foam over a wood core. The wood-core versions don't last as well, because the foam doesn't adhere well to the wood and because the wood is far more prone to breaking. Wood-core rubber foam bos are also overly heavy. This bo is an excellent choice because its lightweight, it's tough and it wont tire you out when using it.
